Read my Rants

I get the blog title now, but I'm not sure you are quite as ranty as I am right now.

Pediatrician

I'll say that first and you'll know you're really in for it.

Called this morning to get Noah's ears checked from the last infection (he's been tugging a bit so I thought, eh you know)

The nurse says "we have an opening for 1:35 pm", me "do you have anything earlier?"

nurse says "No, all booked"

So the plan is, We ALL go to the doctor, ears checked, my friend Patti picks me up at the office and we go to our girls movie (I can't miss that)

We are on our way at 1:20 after waking noah from an early nap so we can get into this only available appointment(early even).

I'm looking through my wallet for the health savings account card, find an appointment card for Noah for 1050 am on June 29th...

huh?

He was sceduled for his 15 month appt TODAY!

The woman at the desk said, well if the girl who makes the calls is sick, the calls don't get made...

again, huh?

Since sept. 16 2005 I've been receiving calls to remind me of appointments for my kids.

I didn't get one last thurs, or fri.

Okay, I'll deal with that.

BUT!

This morning when I called and you're looking at the screen that has all the appointments for the day and my sons is one of them can't you tell me?

OR,

if at 10:00 am when you pull his folder and see that he has another appointment for 1:35 on the same day can't you pick up the phone and say "ah, Mrs. Streinke, we see that you have 2 appointments scheduled for today, would you like us to cancel one?"

So back to the office where the nurse tells me that we have to reschedule his 15 month where he gets an immunization for a later date...

I ask "why"

"well, they schedule more time for a well-baby visit than for this one"

"There was plenty of time this morning when we weren't here for our SCHEDULED appointment" I didn't say it, but I would have liked to.

I didn't say this either, but could have.

here's me mind working "so, not only do I have to pay for this visit (which we can't really afford) but, we have to make another appointment for an immunization and pay for that seperately?"

All because Phylis phone caller was SICK?

well, Eric mentioned something to the doctor after I had said something to the nurse (who said no) and she said, "oh, we can give him that immunization today, that won't be a problem."

Now I don't think that this world is AS masculine driven as it once was, but I tell you what, it's kinda nice to have a husky voice on your side.

Needless to say, Noah got his shot, I got my movie (with Ryan Reynolds), and the pediatrician can shove it.

Rant finished.

Here it is, the long awaited video from the arrival of our new "BIG" bed. I noticed that I'm breathing pretty hard in the video, it's because I was fighting a cold, not because I have that hard of a time walking up the stairs. Although Eric and Ben show signs of fatigue too, but they actually did the work... so here you go, I hope it makes you laugh a little.

If it's broke, fix it

Noah fractured his arm. Yes you're right, I felt horrible. At first I didn't know what to do. I ran with my crying baby up the stairs to the kitchen and called my husband. He didn't really know what to do either. I called the pediatrician. Appointment for the afternoon was made and Noah gradually got back into the swing of things, not using his arm like normal, but playing and pulling hair and eating like normal with his other arm. By the time we got to the pediatricians office I thought for sure she would say that it was probably just sprained and that he should take it easy. She told me she thought x rays would be a good idea and to go right away and they would call from the imaging office to let the pediatrician know what they saw. I called around for the cheapest x rays and went where it was 10 dollars cheaper per x ray, all the while thinking I didn't want to pay money for it to be nothing. Noah was doing well for having fell, not eaten very much and not having tak...

Revolutionary Road

What was I thinking? Leonardo, Kate. Titanic was a hit right? So I rented this movie, Revolutionary Road. We hadn't rented in a very long time and I thought, hey it's cheaper than going to see a movie, getting babysitters are expensive these days. Well, I knew it would be rough but I got it anyway. Eric was not happy. At one point he asked if he could have my headphones to listen to his laptop instead of the movie. I'll just say this. If you're at a point in your marriage were you could go one of two directions, one good, one bad, don't rent this flick! It's real, it's hard to watch. Luckily for Eric and I, we aren't at that place, we never have been and I hope we won't ever get there. Now, it's 4am and I'm sitting at the kitchen table with my little boy thinking, I really shouldn't have watched that movie because I could have gone to bed earlier in preperation for this night. If you have seen it, or you do let me know what you think.
