did I mention we had a vacation?

Ms Jennifer came along Noah prefers sand over water Floaty flys in strong winds Grace prefers water to sand Oh yeah, I was there too.

Firsts

Today was Grace's first day of Kindergarten. Today was Noah's first day of not having to fight with his big sister for mommy's attention. Today was the first day I thought about how different our life is going to be from now on. I hadn't given myself time to think about it before today and that may have been a mistcek, or possibly divine intervention. I think God wanted my last weekend of summer to be great, and it was. Time with family and friends. Good food and relaxing beach time. Time...time period. I feel as though after this last weekend our time may have started to go in fast forward. There are so many things to do and so many things to think about. Grace has school EVERY day, this hasn't been the case for the last two years. It's a good and bad thingin my eyes. Grace needs activity and although I have tried for the last 5 years to entertain her to the best of my ability, I'm tired and Noah requires even MORE attention than she does, so, I feel as tho...

Hummina Hummina Hummina

Ummmm, So remember way back when I gave you the summer schedule? Yeah, it's in full force. Kids are crazy with lack of sleep and heat exhaustion. Mommy is going to wring kids necks at any moment. Daddy is having a mid-life crisis... Yikes I can't wait to fall.

Occasion

I participated in a wedding over the holiday weekend with my mother. We sang two songs one of them being "The Rose". I have wanted to sing that song since high school. Now I have and can officially say...it's kinda hard. It worked out and the wedding was beautiful as you can see. More photos to come...

Where has the time gone?

Well, here I am. What's been up you ask? ummm, I'm working more often and the computer just hasn't been as readily available or important lately, but I've read through a bunch of my favorite blogs and thought, "you know, I really should update mine." Okay, The steinkes have: graduated a 4 year old left kids and eric in saginaw while i traveled to wisconsin dropped of kids while eric and i went to a wedding in st louis had another fathers day traveled to muskegon for my beautiful cousins wedding shower watched as my husband was commisioned and installed as a called DCE for the LCMS it doesn't seem like much, but it's been SUPER busy and there's more to come. also, i've been neglecting my camera and feeling bad about it so i'm going to get it out I promise and have some pics soon. see you soon!

Memorial day was a memorable one.

We swam in the pool a lot. We ate popsicles (a whole box) We squirted our cousins And they squirted back Oh the fun we had!

Things to look forward to

thinking

so, i'm thinking and i'm letting it all out, well, not ALL, but i'm letting my brain drain right here. i worry too much, anyone with me on this? when i became a mother it all started to wash over me. the thoughts of death i had never had before and thoughts of my kids not liking me. my parents are getting older and i hate the thought of being too far from them. i'm living a life here, but not really LIVING, you know. i hope this isn't IT, but i'm afraid it is. we're waiting for the next best thing and when you wait too long you start to feel like ANYTHING would be next best, and that's not always true... grace is becoming a young girl and i like it and don't all at once. she changes me and the dynamic we have. noah is ALL BOY as they say and i have no idea how to handle him, so i worry he'll turn out "bad" i can say that my relationship with eric probably couldn't be better than it is. we are on the same page with life issues and wh...

Happy Birthday to Noah

What a little Steinke you were, looking a lot like your Opa on your birth day And Grandma was there to hold you just like she was for Micah two years later When you turned 1 you were a happy boy at Duck Lake in Mommys lap. And now you're 2! And still Mommys happy boy. We love you sweet boy and look forward to everyday you grow and challenge us to think like Noah would.

Meet Micah

Noah was a little hesitant at first, but wanted to see the "bay bee" Oh, I can touch him too? I think I kinda like this kid...and my Grandma Grace never wanted to give him back. So, welcome to the world little Micah Giger, we can't wait to see how you grow and learn. We love you!!
Here it is, the long awaited video from the arrival of our new "BIG" bed. I noticed that I'm breathing pretty hard in the video, it's because I was fighting a cold, not because I have that hard of a time walking up the stairs. Although Eric and Ben show signs of fatigue too, but they actually did the work... so here you go, I hope it makes you laugh a little.

kids these days

why is it that when things seem to be going good it always seems to go bad, quick. Say a little prayer for our friend from church. He's in Erics youth group and he's got some issues to work through, so does his mom. He's taken some wrong paths, but always ends up back at church, which is a good thing. It kind of seems now like mom and step-dad have given up on him and want Eric to do the work that is really their responsibility and can only be handled by a parent. Granted, parents can ask for help, but don't shove the kid off at church and expect it to work itself out. Also pray for Eric, for the spirit to work through him and show this family how important their son is and how much he is loved. thanks

This one's for my friends

"twice as good" by Sara Groves when I am down and need to cry till morning I know just where I am going when I'm in need of sweet commiseration to speak out loud raise a glass to friendship and to knowing you don't have to go alone we'll raise our hearts to share each others burdens on this road every burden I have carried every joy it's understood life with you is half as hard and twice as good with my good news your dancing on the table babies born to celebration the joy of life oh what a sweet communion shared with you every burden I have carried every joy it's understood life with you is half as hard and twice as good I know we're growing older can you imagine what that will bring it's all a mystery to me now but this one thing will be half as hard, and twice as good

song for the day

When The Rain Comes - Third Da... "When The Rain Comes" When the rain comes it seems that everyone has gone away When the night falls you wonder if you shouldn't find someplace To run and hide Escape the pain But hiding's such a lonely thing to do I can't stop the rain From falling down on you again I can't stop the rain But I will hold you 'til it goes away When the rain comes you blame it on the things that you have done When the storm fades you know that rain must fall on everyone Rest awhile it'll be alright No one loves you like I do When the rain comes I will hold you

when i was young

When I was in 8th grade my dad allowed me to tag along as he went to run the lighting board for the show "Hair" that was playing at MCC. If you didn't know me in 8th grade let me tell you a little about me. I was tall, really tall . I was developed, as developed as my high schoool aged sister and I was mistaken as a teacher on more than one occasion. I wore keds when everyone else was wearing filas . I walked home from school everyday and watched General Hospital religiously. I was a nerd. A band geek. I had a crush on a boy named Chad and I didn't tell anyone because I didn't really have anyone to tell. The good thing is that I'm different now and older and much wiser. So, back to the story. I went with my dad to the college and for the first night I sat with him and watched what went on, on and off stage. I made my dad listen to the soundtrack to and from the college so I could memorize the songs. I sang along and I hung out backstage and passed out pape...

If it's broke, fix it

Noah fractured his arm. Yes you're right, I felt horrible. At first I didn't know what to do. I ran with my crying baby up the stairs to the kitchen and called my husband. He didn't really know what to do either. I called the pediatrician. Appointment for the afternoon was made and Noah gradually got back into the swing of things, not using his arm like normal, but playing and pulling hair and eating like normal with his other arm. By the time we got to the pediatricians office I thought for sure she would say that it was probably just sprained and that he should take it easy. She told me she thought x rays would be a good idea and to go right away and they would call from the imaging office to let the pediatrician know what they saw. I called around for the cheapest x rays and went where it was 10 dollars cheaper per x ray, all the while thinking I didn't want to pay money for it to be nothing. Noah was doing well for having fell, not eaten very much and not having tak...

New

As my first post of the new year 20-10, or 2 thousand 10 whichever you choose I thought maybe a couple of videos would do us good. So you know this band I'm sure and I have been wtching these videos a lot lately. Now this is why I've begun to love Mercy Me. Same band. Different venue. And this. There are many more funny videos here if you so wish to watch and laugh as I do. ps. thank you sara for your help. that was much easier than I was making it.
